After participants have been through the driver CPC training in Wheelchair safety, they’ll have a complete understanding of how to handle disabled occupants, wheelchair storage, and handling. By understanding this, you can ensure the most optimal satisfaction, safety, and comfort from the wheelchair user.
Course includes:
- Principles of wheelchair care (occupant, handling, storage)
- The importance of communication with the user
- Understanding the barriers those who disabled may face when using transport
- Recognising common signs to identify those that are disabled
- Responding to requests to help (wheelchair access, etc.)
- Awareness that anxieties and problems could cause unexpected delays
Wheelchair safety is an excellent module to select for driver CPC training. In addition, It’s a three-and-a-half-hour session, meaning it’ll need to be combined with another course that has the same duration.
